Dry Skin (xerosis) is a usual skin state and distinguish by the absence of a suitable amount of water in the outermost layer of the skin, the epidermis. Whether it is men or women, it tends to affect both of them equally. But older peoples are typically much more susceptible to dry skin. The skin in young individuals has a lot of natural oils and lubricants. The mostly dry parts of your body are hands, legs and. It can be caused by humidity.

Your skin, first of all, comes in contact with the environmental changes. When due to these changes your skin becomes dry or red patches appears, then do not hide your skin in pants and gloves. Simply just go and

replenish your skin.

If you want to get rid of this problem, then you should first know about its causes.

There is no specific single cause of dry skin. It can be caused by both external or internal factors. External factors are the most usual and are easy to take control on it. These factors include low temperature, especially during winters. Internal factors include genetics changes, age, health, family history. Peoples with thyroid diseases mostly tend to develop it.

Other External factors which are involved in causes of dry skin are:

Overuse of alcohols (sanitizers, cleaning agents), low temperature, tight skin after taking bath, overuse of harsh soaps. It is the most common factor among others. Because soaps of different companies have a different type of chemicals in them. Soap is an emulsifier that removes natural oil from the skin. More using of soap means more oil is removed. Which result in dry skin. Even the excessive use of soap causes your dry skin to get worse. It can also be caused if you have chosen the wrong moisturizer for your skin. Your cloth material such as synthetic fibers and wool can also sometimes affects your skin. Because it causes itching and redness.

CAUSES OF DRY SKIN

Medical conditions are also the reasons of causing it. These medical conditions are:
Hypothyroidism
Diabetes
Malnutrition
Atopic dermatitis (eczema)

The normally dry skin does not give harm to anyone but if they are not treated well then it may cause excessive dryness. Which can lead to redness, inflammation, and cracking. Dry skin might form cracks and allows the bacterias to enter and causes infection. This is mostly occurring because of the failure of a protective mechanism in your body. For instance, extremely dry skin can cause cracks that are deep, which will open and also bleeding occurs (cracked heels). This will provide bacterias to enter and spread infection on that part.

Do Not lead your to get worse because it then causes harmful infection. So choose moisturizers or body creams specially formulated for skin. Also, read my blog What is body cream? for more information about which type of body cream, you have to use for your skin
